The first? Cassandra, Ciarran and Abbie (fair game). The second, however? Not so much. Revealed in a Married At First Sight-style 'Bula Banquet' where the contestants asked each other anonymous questions, Cassandra secretly put forward a query to Ciarran about how he'd feel if his ex-girlfriend/Bachelor alum Renee Barrett were to appear on the island.
Ciarran, who we had a feeling might somewhat play with our hearts this season, dropped the shock confession that it would be awkward because, he did, in fact, cheat on Renee in their months-long relationship. Abbie, so clearly into Ciarran, more or less responded by saying one relationship mess-up doesn't have to define him, and it shouldn't matter on the island — "unless someone here is friends with him" she finished somewhat pointedly.
Cue: Cassandra, who appeared in Matt Angew's season alongside both Abbie and Renee. "I'm friends with Renee, so this is a bit of sticking point, and I am a really loyal person as well, in the sense that, I'm loyal to my friends," she piped up, despite having already had a flirt fest with Ciarran.
"If she was to walk in here, I'd probably have to see where my friend was at."
She continued: "At the end of the day, we are all here for ourselves and yeah... I'd just have to see."
Cassandra reiterated the sentiment in her separate piece to camera, stating: "I don't want to be involved in any drama, however I came here to kind of put myself first and see what's out there for me.
"So if Renee is fine about everything, I might actually pursue this."
To quote Mean Girls' Gretchen Wieners' take on not dating a friend's ex, "That's just, like, the rules of feminism", and Australia was none too thrilled by Cassandra (who'd also been criticising Abbie for her own pursuit of Ciarran) and her approach to the whole thing.
As it turns out, Renee, who is rumoured to appear in Fiji later, wasn't particularly pleased with her friend's behaviour in the premiere.
Appearing in a video posted on social media, Renee can be seen surrounded by friends during a viewing party in which she and Sam Royce (who uploaded the video that was later reposted on @bachiefunny) both shout "bitch" towards the camera.
The text overlaid? "When you break girl code."
"Renee watching Cassandra refer to her as a 'good friend' on Paradise while also trying to get with her ex Ciarran seconds after he said he cheated on her 😂 #bachelorinparadiseau," the video caption explained.
Not good, Cassandra. Not good.
